🐯 How did 7 tigers end up in one home?

April 3, 2025 · Rob Kachelriess

Are you enjoying the schizophrenic weather? ☀️🌧️🥶🔥🌬️

It’s just a little something we call spring in Las Vegas. But when it’s hot, it’s hot. That’s why NV Energy wants to raise rates by up to 9%, while claiming customers will somehow come out ahead in the long run 🤔

What's CITY Talking About?

🐅 Seven of the Ragged Tiger

Authorities tranquilized and seized seven tigers from a private home. And yes, it happened in Pahrump. The homeowner was taken into custody too. [KVVU]

🏳️‍⚧️ Switching Teams

The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association approved a new policy limiting high school students to sports that align with the sex listed on original birth certificates. [KRNV]

⛪ Taking the Lord’s Name in Eminent Domain

The oldest Presbyterian Church in Las Vegas will close after 70 years, following an $18.5 million settlement that ceded property to accommodate the I-15 Project Neon expansion. The Grace Presbyterian Church will hold temporary services at another venue before moving to a new location under construction in the Southwest Valley. [KSNV]

🏘️ North Las Vegas Gets Bigger

North Las Vegas is getting a new neighborhood after receiving a nice gift: 7,000 acres of BLM land 🎉 East Tule Springs will have homes, businesses, and a north UNLV campus. So what else? Take a survey and weigh in on what you’d like to see done with the neighborhood. I’m voting for a Trader Joe’s, boozy pickleball courts, and a new casino with nothing but 3/2 blackjack 🃏 [KTNV]

  • How about affordable housing? That works too 👍 Gov. Lombardo has a $250 million plan to expand eligibility and encourage development in Nevada. [Las Vegas Sun]

Best Chef: Southwest

Sarah Thompson of Casa Playa

While I’d like to see far more Vegas representation in the awards — especially off the Strip — the recognition for the above three finalists is well deserved 👍
