💸 Unexpected ways tariffs hit Vegas
April 7, 2025 · Rob Kachelriess
🗓️ Today is April 7. That means you have exactly one month until the REAL ID deadline 😳
DMV locations are beginning to see large crowds, but don’t panic — at least not yet. We’re gonna talk more about this below ⬇️

What's CITY Talking About?

🚴 Just Roll With It
There’s a new law under consideration that would allow bicyclists to blow through stop signs in Nevada. City Cast Las Vegas explains why this could actually improve safety and how e-bikes factor in 🤔 [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

💸 What Happens in Vegas, Pays in Vegas
The impact of tariffs could hit Las Vegas in unexpected places — like local restaurants that import ingredients (including your favorite Italian joints) and gift shops. Those keychains and t-shirts may say “Vegas,” but 97% of Sin City souvenirs are made in China 🇨🇳 [KTNV/KSNV]
- The tariffs could also blow a hole in the numbers for Gov. Lombardo’s newly announced affordable housing plan. [Nevada Current]
✈️ And if That Wasn’t Bad Enough …
Las Vegas saw the flow of international tourists drop — especially from Mexico and Canada — even before the tariff talk picked up. Inflation, credit card debt, and gas prices are all top contenders in the blame game. [KNPR]
- Meanwhile, Harry Reid continues to rank high as one of the most chaotic airports in the country. Nearly 36% of all flights face some sort of delay. [Casino of the Kings]
- It’s one of the reasons the airport needs to expand. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
🧙 There’s No Place Like Sphere
We mentioned this a few weeks ago, but it’s now confirmed that an immersive version of the 1939 “Wizard of Oz” classic opens at the Sphere on Aug. 28. (If they charge $79.99 for popcorn, it will truly be a Sphere experience 🍿) Another movie, “From the Edge,” a documentary about extreme sports, opens in 2026. [Variety]

Where Is It?

Hey! It’s Vincent van Gogh — and he’s holding a beer. Nice painting.
So …. where is it?
A. The Park West Fine Art Museum & Gallery at the Forum Shops?
B. The Van Gogh Immersive Experience at AREA15?

Fun fact: Art Barr was the name of a professional wrestler. But Art Bar is the name of the lobby bar at the Downtown Grand. It’s where you can order Dali’s Drinks, Van Gogh's Grab N' Go, and other items — at least until the Downtown Grand becomes a Rolling Stone hotel 👀
