💀 Eastside Cannery Back From the Dead?

While not yet officially announced, it appears Boyd Gaming is selling (or at least leasing) off the Eastside Cannery, which has remained closed since the pandemic. To avoid competition with other Boyd properties, the casino will be redeveloped as — get this — an RV dealership. The hotel gets to stay. [Vital Vegas]

🔥 Homeless Camp Cleared After Motorcycle Fire

Still no cause given for a blaze that destroyed 55 motorcycles last week, although Clark County ordered an emergency cleanout of a homeless camp behind the dealership “in response to the fire.” [KVVU]

💸 Property Taxes Goin’ Up

Both Clark County and the City of Las Vegas want to hire more police officers — and if you own a home, you’re gonna help pay for ‘em. [KSNV]

🚧 Planes, Pains, and Automobiles

Overnight maintenance work on roads leading into Harry Reid International Airport will continue until May 22. Meanwhile, a notoriously noisy stretch of 215 between the airport and I-15 will be repaved from May 19 to winter. [KLAS/Las Vegas Review-Journal]

Las Vegas Chatter

City Cast Neighbors share some thoughts on our first-ever trivia night earlier this month ...

My friend Rebecca and I were thrilled to be a part of your first collective of City Cast members. The trivia game was clever and a great socializer. The people we met at our table may become friends for a long time.

— Tim W. (from a handwritten note!) ⬆️

A note of thanks for the subscriber Trivia Night a couple weeks ago. My wife and I attended and as I reflected on the experience, I was filled with gratitude:

  • All the hosts / team members were friendly and engaging.
  • The event was planned well.
  • There was a great vibe of positivity throughout (similar to the podcast).

We moved to Las Vegas a couple years ago and the City Cast podcast has been a crash course about how to get connected in the community for places, restaurants and culture that would otherwise have taken years to build, if at all.

— Dana T.

It was so great to meet the City Cast team! Can't wait for another! :)
