What's CITY Talking About?
🧑🎓 UNLV Student Visas in Limbo
In response to legal pressure, the Trump administration restored visas for thousands of international students with minor or dismissed infractions. No word yet on if any of the seven UNLV students who lost visas this year are part of the reprieve. [Politico/Las Vegas Weekly]
📚 New Schools? Not so Fast 🫷
Clark County is pausing construction on 10 schools, citing rising costs. On the plus side, there are fewer new students than projected for the next couple years. [KSNV]
⚾ It’s Really Happening!
We think 🤞 Grading work has started on the A’s ballpark at the old Tropicana site. That’s a fancy word for moving dirt around, but hey — it’s a start. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
😶🌫️ How’s Legal Weed Working Out?
For years, folks in the media (myself included) kept reporting on how Nevada had recreational cannabis sales, but nowhere for the general public to legally consume the stuff. After a long wait, it appears the demand for cannabis lounges just isn’t there — and legal sales are dropping altogether. With that in mind, City Cast Las Vegas asked a big question — “Is legal cannabis a failed experiment?” — and if there’s any chance of trends turning around. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
