📣 Listen up!
City Cast Las Vegas will always hold the powerful accountable in Las Vegas, whether it’s those aspiring to become mayor or Elon Musk and his underground Tesla tunnels. Now, we have another high-profile newsmaker on the hot seat: Mojave Max 🐢

The desert tortoise has signaled the start of spring for 25 years, but an environmentalist is taking issue with the campaign.
Is Mojave Max an example of greenwashing? An enemy of the environment? Dare we say it … a fraud? 🤯 Decide for yourself after listening to today’s episode. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

What's CITY Talking About?

🐝 Beekeeping Turns Deadly
An experienced Las Vegas beekeeper was found dead after being overwhelmed by a species known as the Africanized Honey Bee. These particular bees are so dangerous, they require a special transportation permit in quarantined Southern Nevada. And despite the name, they’re not especially good at making honey either 🍯 [KLAS]
- Don’t forget: You have to worry about mosquitos too. [Hey Las Vegas ✍️]
⛺ Homeless Camp Cleanup
Tension is heightened now that a $15 million cleanup project is underway to clear homeless camps from a wash near Flamingo and Maryland Parkway (behind the Target, for reference). The danger and toxicity levels in the tunnels are so uncertain, robots were sent in first, while crews work in hazmat suits and other protective gear. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
- Neighbors are worried the project will push the homeless into surrounding residential and business areas. [KTNV]
💵 Fiore Suspended (With Pay)
Despite receiving a presidential pardon on a fraud conviction for misusing police memorial funds, Michele Fiore won’t return to her gig as Nye County justice of the peace anytime soon. She remains suspended, based on unspecified additional complaints. She’s still getting paid. [KVVU]
💰 Rosen Pushes “No Tax on Tips” Through Senate
Nevada’s own Jacky Rosen brought a bill banning taxes on tips to the U.S. Senate floor and got it passed via an unexpected procedure: verbal unanimous consent. Now it’s up to the House to approve the law on its own — or as part of the bigger spending bill currently under debate. [Nevada Independent]
