🎰 Do slot machines still take coins?
May 27, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess
🖐️ Hold up! Before we get to anything else today …
I want to wish a happy anniversary to my wife, Mary ♥️ She’s smart, kind, beautiful, and doesn’t ask for much — except for more photos of our doggies in the newsletter. So here’s one more.

Cheers to eight years 🥂

What's CITY Talking About?

🎰 Penny Shortage Won’t Affect Penny Slots
The Treasury is phasing out production of the penny. So, where does that leave penny slots in Las Vegas? Despite popular misconception, modern penny slots don’t actually take one-cent coins. They accept bills and tickets like most other machines, and the minimum bet is usually quite a bit higher than a cent. [CNN]
- But there’s still a place for coins in Las Vegas — and that place is Circus Circus 🎪 City Cast Las Vegas has a soft spot for the Strip casino, which is nearly 57 years old and makes a point to carry classic coin-operated slot machines inside Slots-A-Fun. It’s just one of the reasons it could be time to give Circus Circus another chance . [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

🧐 Fontainebleau Faces Money Laundering Allegations
Gaming regulators are investigating the Fontainebleau over a questionable $2 million line of credit that a professional gambler allegedly “blew thru” shortly after the casino resort’s late 2023 opening. The news slipped during a routine hearing to license a Fontainebleau executive. [Nevada Current]

☕ McDonald’s Sued Over Hot Coffee (Again)
Remember the ridiculed (and often misunderstood) lawsuit against McDonald’s over hot coffee? Well, similar litigation was filed against the fast food giant after a woman in Henderson said she was seriously burned due to a loose lid on a coffee cup. [Las Vegas Review Journal]
👊 WrestleMania Rematch In Las Vegas?
World Wrestling Entertainment has “turned heel” on New Orleans, canceling plans for next year’s WrestleMania in the Big Easy after the event was already announced. It appears things went so well in Vegas last month, the company wants to bring the extravaganza back to Allegiant Stadium for the second year in a row, adding to an already growing list of sports and entertainment attractions.
