What's CITY Talking About?
🚨 Senseless Murder of Las Vegas Journalist
Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and former coworkers of longtime Las Vegas journalist Matthew Kelemen, whose body was found at a business near the Fremont Street Experience. Police believe he was killed by his roommate, who died in a crash while evading police on a high-speed chase in Utah. [Law & Crime]
✍️ Lombardo: Ballot Boxes 👎 Taxes 👍
Gov. Lombardo issued his first veto of this year’s legislative session, squashing a bill to expand the availability of ballot drop boxes during the “dead zone” between early voting and Election Day. On the flip side, Lombardo signed bills extending a property tax increase and allowing the possible increase of a gas tax — notable for a guvnah with a “no new taxes” pledge. [Nevada Independent]
🎓 Expression Allowed on Graduation Regalia
Just in time for graduation week, the Clark County School District has been ordered to loosen its ban on forms of expression during commencement ceremonies. The ACLU brought the issue before a federal judge, using regalia in support of “Black Girl Magic” and Nevada’s Emerging Leaders Program as examples. [KVVU]

🤖 A.I. Banned From World Series of Poker
If you’ve noticed an unusual amount of hoodies, visors, and sunglasses on the Strip this week, that’s because the World Series of Poker is back at the Horseshoe 😎 This year, the tournament is banning players from using electronic devices in real time. There was a controversy when last year’s winner conferred with a coach who appeared to be running A.I. poker software on a laptop. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

🎶 Jennifer Lopez is coming back to Las Vegas for a new residency at Caesars Palace, but don’t overlook our own homegrown entertainment.
Super Summer Theatre kicks off a new season today at Spring Mountain Ranch with a production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” which runs through June 14. Tickets begin at $28.
Even with the $10 park admission, that’s still a lot less than whatever J.Lo is charging 👍
