🚔 Outrage On Ice?

Metro says it won’t make additional changes to its immigration policy after applying to join a Warrant Service Officer program with ICE. A union rep says the move streamlines the process, allowing police to hold undocumented immigrants up to 48 hours beyond their prison release date before handing them over to ICE. [KSNV]

🎰We received some thoughtful feedback on the City Cast Las Vegas episode about what qualifies as a “locals casino” in Las Vegas.

Somebody tell Sarah about Jerry’s Nugget! We go there for the old-school bingo hall, generous comps, diner, and the most impressive eclair in town. If you order it for takeout, it comes in a box with Jerry’s Nugget printed on it. A bakery and a bit of kitsch all in one!

I booked our room for the Red Rock Resort online. It was expensive but we were splurging on a city view for about $400. I mentioned we were locals on a staycation for our 30th wedding anniversary. We got there to check in and it was taking them a minute to find our reservation. Then she said, “Oh! You need to go check in over there at the VIP desk.” Huh? Ok. So we went through the doors to the fancy area and were upgraded to a suite! She said it was a room that normally rents for $8,000+ but we were getting it for the same price that we originally booked for! We were blown away!

We have an update to our story about Vegas Vic with clarification on who owns the trademark now.

Archon Corporation, which operates Vic’s Las Vegas restaurant and jazz lounge in Symphony Park, acquired the rights when it bought the Laughlin casino resort now known as the New Pioneer — and kept them after selling the property. We modified the online version of the story to make that clear 👍
