💡 NV Energy's confusing rate plan
June 9, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess
Welcome back! It’s Monday 🥱
If things seemed a little slow over the weekend, you’re not alone. Even Uber drivers are leaving town due to the recent drop in tourism.

What's CITY Talking About?
⚡ NV Energy Wants to Flip Switch on Prices
NV Energy is urging regulators to vote on a proposed rate change, but it’s unlikely to happen until later in the year. The idea? Bill customers for the maximum amount of electricity used at a single point during the day instead of the total amount of electricity consumed in a day. (Confusing, right?) The backup plan: Increase the basic service charge from $18.50 per month to $24 per month. [Las Vegas Sun/Nevada Independent]
🚨 Gunman Hopped Up on Spice?
Police say the gunman who tried to carry out a mass shooting at a Las Vegas Athletic Club was a longtime user of Spice — a synthetic drug also known as K2. [KLAS]
🍿 Henderson Police Drama Heats Up
Newly released emails document the tension and disagreements between Henderson’s city manager and police chief, who was later fired before deciding to run for mayor. Meanwhile, the deputy police chief was placed on leave, just days after a new police chief was hired. [KSNV/KTNV]
