June 18, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess
🎰 Are you ready for 702 Day? It’s a brand-new, totally real holiday that we think should be official — taking place on July 2 (natch) to celebrate all things Las Vegas.
So how do you have the most “Las Vegas” day ever? Share your idea with us — and we’ll publish our favorite suggestions in the newsletter 👍

What's CITY Talking About?

⚾ A’s Shine Shovels for June 23
We’re just days away from the official groundbreaking of the A’s baseball stadium. Is the ceremony more “ceremonial” than anything else at the moment? City Cast Las Vegas hosts a fierce debate on the status of the project and its chances of success. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
✋ Fighting Hope
A lawsuit was filed to stop the Campus of Hope, a 900-bed homeless facility that’s scheduled to break ground this September near Charleston and Jones. Neighbors don’t think it’s good for home values. [KSNV]
😵💫 YouTube Bad for Kids?
Nevada’s Attorney General is suing the parent company of YouTube, claiming the channel fosters an addictive online environment that’s harmful to children. [KTNV]
📺 Netflix Plays House in Vegas
And here’s another steaming service spreading its influence. Interactive playground Netflix House is coming to The BLVD on the Las Vegas Strip in 2027 (after Dallas and Philly get versions first). The streaming giant already has a themed restaurant at the MGM Grand, mixing creative presentations with just-okay food. [Variety]
💰 Nevada Misplaces Priorities
The Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation in Henderson is seeking donations after 100% of its state funding was cut. [KVVU]
🚘 Break a Window, Save a Pet
We received a few questions about our Rules of Summer story. To clarify, breaking a car window in hot weather to save a dog or another animal has been illegal for years in Nevada, but the newly passed Reba’s Law grants immunity to civil and criminal liability for those who use “any reasonable means necessary” to save a pet from a locked car.
