💸 A Vegas hotel in money trouble

🥃 Thanks to all the City Cast Las Vegas Neighbors who joined us at the Las Vegas Distillery last night!
Everyone had a great time at the members-only tasting and tour, followed by drinks and food in the lounge. I loved the distillery’s gin in the barrel-aged Negroni and I bought a bottle of their coffee liqueur to take home. (It’s made with locally roasted coffee beans and is a great gift idea.)

🇲🇽 Broadacres Eyes Reopening Date
Vendors say Broadacres Marketplace is planning to reopen August 1. The outdoor swap meet, carnival, and Latino culture hub closed abruptly in June after a similar business by the same owners was raided by ICE in Southern California. [KSNV]

🤑 The Lexi Up for Sale
The Lexi, an off-Strip hotel formerly known as the Artisan, is in financial trouble, from mounting unpaid bills to a loan default of nearly $12 million. The owners want to sell the property, which was originally billed as a “cannabis-friendly” hotel, but that marketing campaign is up in smoke. [Las Vegas Review Journal]
📺 From Jetflicks to Jail
An unassuming home near Eastern and Desert Inn was the secret headquarters for Jetflicks, one of the largest illegal streaming services in the world. (Just imagine the electricity bill 😳) The ringleader was sentenced to seven years in prison. [KVVU]
👄 Taylor Swift Fans Wax Ecstatic
Locals have a few more excuses to play tourist in Las Vegas.
- Madame Tussauds has thirteen new Taylor Swift statues, and one of ‘em is in Las Vegas.
- The Friends Experience, based on the ‘90s sitcom, is now open at the MGM Grand.
- The Mob Museum now has a Tommy gun used in Chicago’s infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre on display.
