City Cast Las Vegas
🎰 Which casinos get it right?
July 31, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess
🎸 Elvis Presley is a hot ticket in Vegas … again 👀
Tonight, the Westgate is recreating the opening night of the King’s iconic 1969 residency in the same theater where it happened — down to the clothing, setlist, stage, and instruments.
The tickets were retro too — starting at just $10 — and are now reselling for more than $100 for both 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. performances.
So revisit our City Cast Las Vegas conversation with Elvis’ brother (who leads his own monthly theater tour) and last year’s story about the singer’s historic Vegas run.

What's CITY Talking About?
🚘 Deadly Firearm Legally Transported
You still can’t cross state lines with cannabis, even in states where it’s legal, but it’s totally okay to drive from Las Vegas to New York with an AR-15 assault rifle for recreational purposes. [WRGB]

🎰 Be Nice to Locals — It Works
While Strip casinos struggle with a downturn in Vegas tourism — and turn to some enticing discounts in the process — Red Rock Resorts just marked its most profitable quarter in the company’s 49-year history, focusing on locals with Durango, Green Valley Ranch, and other Station Casinos properties. 🌵 More Booze and Business in Goldfield
You probably know Jim Marsh from his Kia dealership commercials, but the 92-year-old businessman also operates two casinos: The Amargosa Valley’s Longstreet Inn and Skyline on Boulder Highway. He’s now licensed for a new gambling spot, the Occidental Saloon, which is only 180 miles away in historic Goldfield. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]

Neighborhood Shoutouts
Once again, our City Cast Las Vegas Neighbors get to share their favorite local people, places, and things.
- 📣 Celeste W. shouts “Hooray for Impact Las Vegas, a women's giving collective, which just awarded their annual grant of $118,000 to CARE Chest.”
- 📣 Rachel H. says Herbs by Diane is proof you can grow delicious, healthy food in the desert — in this case, Boulder City. “Diane has been growing organic foods for years and selling to everyone from farmers market patrons to chefs on the Strip,” she says. “Her garden is a true treasure that runs on passion, volunteerism and a love of the land.”
