What's CITY Talking About?

💧 Nothing To See Here
Remember that vertical speedboat, sticking out of Lake Mead’s dwindling waters as a symbol of the drought that dooms us all? Well, the boat was finally removed by park officials, leaving laymen without an easy way to monitor water levels. [KLAS]
🔥 Another Week, Another Fire
A two-alarm fire tore through the construction site of an apartment complex in North Las Vegas, sending a worker to the hospital with burn injuries. Even with our hazy skies, the smoke could be seen for miles. [KTNV]

🤔 Hyundai at Fault for Murder?
The family of a former police chief killed on a bicycle when hit by a stolen car is suing the suspects who appeared to intentionally run him over — recording video of themselves in the act — as well the manufacturer of the vehicle. The suit claims Hyundai makes cars that are easy to steal. [KSNV]
🫏 Political Stuff 🐘
Nevada’s two U.S. senators, Democrats Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez-Masto, are waving the flag high for bipartisanship, joining all Republicans and just a few Democrats to sell Israel millions in new weapons without conditions for allowing civilian aid into Gaza. [Nevada Current]
- The two also confirmed Sam Brown (the Republican defeated by Rosen in the last election) to a Veterans Affairs position. [KSNV]
- State Treasurer and Attorney General candidate Zach Conine will split time between work, the campaign trail, and federal court to defend himself against an age discrimination lawsuit. [Nevada Independent]
- Carrie Buck, a GOP state senator from Henderson, wants to replace Democrat Dina Titus in Congress. [KLAS]

🖐️ Attention hoarders …
If you have some old photos or videos of Southern Nevada in the ‘80s and ‘90s, the City of Las Vegas may want to use it for an upcoming documentary series. They’ll even digitize it for you to say thanks.
