👮 Police officer ‘kidnapped’ at Target

August 7, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess

☕ Good morning … and welcome to another day of what weather forecasters are calling hazy sunshine 😶‍🌫️

We’re far from the only ones with smoggy skies. Canada has at least 700 wildfires alone 🔥 (Based on my calculations, that’s more wildfires than actual Canadians.)

What's CITY Talking About?

👮 Police Officer ‘Kidnapped’ by Petty Shoplifters

And it all started at the Target on Blue Diamond Road. According to Metro, officers confronted women and teenagers accused of stealing baby clothes. A fight broke out in the parking lot and somehow, one of the officers got stuck on the suspects’ backseat floorboard with legs dangling out the door while the car sped off. Like an episode of “T.J. Hooker,” another officer rammed the getaway vehicle and crashed into a box truck in the process. Arrests were made and charges were issued, including the kidnapping of a police officer. [KLAS]

🤔 Foot Traffic, Now With Commercials

Guess what’s coming to the Strip:

  • Free parking ❌
  • $10 resort fees ❌
  • More ads ✅

Yep. Clark County approved digital LED displays for five Strip pedestrian bridge towers — or as they’re called in uncomfortable business jargon, “touchdown structures.” [KSNV]

⚾ A’s For Effort

Sure, the A’s are renting to own last place in the standings, but what will the team look like when they make it to Vegas in a few years? There’s a plan to rebuild the roster with younger, talented players (which — hear me out — is probably what they should’ve done in the first place). [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
