City Cast Las Vegas
💀 Is Vegas dead? A real answer.
August 27, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess
💀 Is Las Vegas dead?
Of course not, but this tourist destination has its share of problems, from a visitation drop to perception issues. How much is out of our control — and how much did we bring upon ourselves? 🤔

City Cast Las Vegas welcomes Scott Roeben of Vital Vegas for a frank and real discussion about the state of Las Vegas, how things went south, and if there’s any relief in sight. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

What's CITY Talking About?
🏜️ Mysterious Ashes Found in the Desert
BLM confirms that about “70 piles” of dust outside Searchlight are cremated human remains. (Typically, you don’t see much of anything at all near the small desert town.) There’s no law against scattering the ashes of a loved one on public land, but it’s not the kind of thing you do in bulk. [KLAS]
🚧 Redevelopment of Historic Neighborhood Underway
The Marble Manor Housing Project in the Historic Westside is being demolished this week with hundreds of displaced residents promised affordable, upgraded, “mixed-income” housing upon return. Some are optimistic about the revitalization plan, which is rolling out in phases and expected to be done in 2033. [News, From the Margin]
⏳ The DMV Wait, Longer Than Ever
Nevada state offices remain closed due to a “network security incident” that's now confirmed as a targeted cyber attack. The DMV is happy to welcome those with cancelled appointments as walk-ins when things are sorted out. Just worry about your smog test for now. [KVVU]
⚾ The A’s Plan Vegas Vacation
The A’s have gone from a pretend Las Vegas team to a real one — for a week anyway. Next year, the A’s will leave Sacramento to play six official regular season games at the Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown Summerlin. If you want to know why the A’s aren’t just doing this for all their games, your brain is way too large to understand the beautiful mess we call Las Vegas. [KSNV]
