🇺🇲 Today marks 24 years since the 9/11 terror attacks.
Las Vegas remembers the lives lost with memorial events, including the tolling of the bells at Fire Station 5 at 6:45 a.m. and a remembrance march on Fremont Street at 7 p.m. Fire responders and military will also scale the stairs of The Strat tower in an annual tradition to honor the victims.

What's CITY Talking About?

🤑 Free Taxis Are Here in Las Vegas
The only catch: No driver. After years of on-street testing, Zoox finally hard-launched to the general public on and near the Strip. To get everyone used to the autonomous shuttle service, free rides are currently being offered on the company’s app. [Zoox]
🧂 ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Generates Big Bucks for the Sphere
I’m using the salt emoji, since I'm borrowing a grain of it for this story. A research firm says the Sphere is drawing 4,000 to 5,000 people per screening to watch “The Wizard of Oz,” adding up to a gross of nearly $2 million a day. [Bloomberg]
📺 LVCVA Defends Ad Campaign, Insists We Love It
The LVCVA admits to getting off to a “rough start” with the first television ad for its high-profile “Welcome to Fabulous” campaign, but wants the local media to “rally the troops … to change the narrative of the destination.” [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🔫 Gun Sales Halted in Nevada
Gun sales are currently on hold in Nevada for those who require federal background checks after the recent cyberattack shut down our state’s connection to the system. [KRNV]
While we’re discussing guns …
Our thoughts are with our Utah neighbors after yesterday’s university shooting that targeted and killed conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. All Americans deserve the right to free speech, open debate, and to peacefully assemble. Regardless of where your beliefs fall on the political spectrum, we agree with Nevada’s governor that the “attack was sickening and heartbreaking, and there is no place — ever — for violence in American politics.” [Associated Press/@JoeLombardoNV]

Our Priority is Your Drinking Water
Southern Nevada's water supply meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards. However, the taste of tap water may not appeal to you. Infuse a glass with lemon slices, use a filter or chill a large carafe in the refrigerator. Learn more ways to enhance the taste at snwa.com.

🎸 Hey rock n’ rollers …
Mötley Crüe debuts a new Vegas residency this weekend. I think the band sounds rough these days, but you can’t beat free — and Prince Street Pizza at Durango has ticket raffles for five upcoming shows for those who buy the limited “Pizza Your Action” pie or slice. (Details coming soon.)
My bet? See indie rockers Don’t Go Alone at Red Dwarf Saturday night — a great band featuring Myron Kaplan, who’s been a part of the City Cast family as a fill-in producer 👍
