🚘 Paid parking looks different now

I’m back! Thanks to Natalia for filling in 👍
I took the day off for a colonoscopy. It was fun. (I recommend everyone try it at least once.) I’m feeling lean, clean, and ready to go — especially after my clears diet of bone broth and blanco tequila 🥳

What's CITY Talking About?
🕯️ An Arrest, Vigil, and Strange Coincidences
Mourners held a vigil at UNLV for Charlie Kirk on Friday — just hours after 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested in the assassination of the conservative media figure at Utah Valley University. Robinson lived in the St. George area, just 120 miles outside Las Vegas. [KTNV]
- In a frustrating coincidence, the suspect has no relation to the Tyler Robinson Foundation, a Vegas-based nonprofit founded by Imagine Dragons to support families affected by pediatric cancer. In another remarkable coincidence, the foundation’s annual Rise Up gala happened to be Friday as well. The organization does good work. Show ‘em some love. [trf.org]
🚑 Worker Hurt at Vegas Loop Site
In a story that should be getting more attention, OSHA is investigating a “crushing injury” to a Boring Co. worker in a machinery accident. New Vegas Loop stations for underground Tesla tunnels are in development at the former Gordon Biersch and Firefly sites on Paradise Road. The company is also working on a connection between Encore and Caesars Palace. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
- It’s not the first time OSHA has gotten involved. [Hey Las Vegas ✍️]
🅿️ Resorts World Changes Parking Policy
Resorts World ended its free-for-all summer parking policy and introduced a new system with everything done via the Metropolis app. As long as you sign up and register your plate, locals and upper-tier rewards members still park for free. Everyone else pays now. [KLAS]
- Metropolis is expanding its presence in Vegas at AREA15, Westgate, OYO, and other places on or near the Strip. Our friends at City Cast Nashville say the system is everywhere in Music City with reports of false charges, excessive late fees, and clunky technology. To be fair, it appears the company is making a good faith effort to turn its image around. Follow the saga and decide if Las Vegans need to worry. [City Cast Nashville 🎧]
🤠 Is Nevada Cowboy Country?
Las Vegas leans heavily into its Old West legacy, especially during events like Helldorado Days and the National Finals Rodeo, but how much of the image is real and how much is manufactured? City Cast Las Vegas takes a hard look at our cowboy roots and the marketing that shaped the identity of our community. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
