What's CITY Talking About?

🙅 Cancel Culture Hits Clark County Schools

⚡ NV Energy Changes How It Charges Customers

Without debate or discussion, state regulators approved NV Energy’s request to change how it charges customers. Instead of counting total usage, the utility will now bill based on the maximum amount of electricity used at a single point during a day. NV Energy insists this is good for customers, who are being asked to help pay for a $4.2 billion transmission line too. [Nevada Independent]

🛫 North Las Vegas Airport Eyes Expansion

The North Las Vegas Airport wants to expand its runway to better accommodate visitors in town for F1, New Year’s Eve, and other high-traffic events. Sounds good, right? Not to the owners of more than 300 private aircraft at the facility, who are worried their leases won’t get renewed to clear room for the project. [KTNV]

🤯 Attention, Everyone: Tourists Like Value

That shouldn’t have to be a headline, but some people can’t figure out the magic formula. While Las Vegas visitation was down 8 percent during the first half of 2025, Laughlin was up 6 percent. The small riverside casino town thrives on affordability, from free parking to minimal fees.

🙏 Thanks to Adrian for filling in yesterday.

I was off for an administrative planning day. So I worked on my schedule, did interviews for future stories, and watered the emotional support plants in my office.

I’ll be back again tomorrow 👍
