September 23, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess

🐰 Hi everyone!

Before we begin, I have a quick reminder to those in our City Cast Las Vegas Neighbors membership program: You have until 3 p.m. today to enter our ticket giveaway for the Las Vegas Philharmonic's production of "Bugs Bunny at the Symphony" at the Smith Center 🐰

If you haven't done so already, check your inbox for instructions on how to enter, which were sent out in yesterday afternoon's members-only events email.

What's CITY Talking About?

😐 5-Day Sale More Fizzle Than Fabulous

The LVCVA is teaming up with resorts throughout the valley for the “biggest sale in Vegas history,” which remains active until Friday. Instead of doing something dramatic — like a full-stop moratorium on resort fees and parking charges — the deals are a somewhat uninspiring choice between the “meh” (20% off rooms at Henderson’s Hilton Garden Inn) and “maybe” ($8 rooms at Excalibur that add up to $53 with the $45 resort fee tacked on). 🗳️ Allegiant Stadium Helped Voter Turnout

Lesson learned: If you make voting fun, more people show up. Around 35% percent of the 4,200 Nevadans who cast ballots at Allegiant Stadium last November were first-time voters, compared to 20% at other polling places in Clark County. [KSNV]

🛬 Plane Lands on Northwest Valley Road

A small plane took off from North Las Vegas Airport and made an emergency landing on Grand Canyon Drive near Tropical Parkway — and (most of it) was caught on video. [KVVU]

🖥️ Teen Arrested in Casino Cyberattack

An arrest was made in the notorious 2023 cyberattack that struck casinos operated by MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment — and yes, you guessed it — the suspect is a teenager. [Cyberscoop]

  • We still don’t know who’s responsible for a more recent hack that crippled the state of Nevada’s computer systems. With updated passwords and two-factor authentication in place, City Cast Las Vegas takes a look at the effects of the cyberattack and if the worst is really over. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

Water like a pro and follow the game plan for a healthy landscape this fall. Water grass ONLY 3 days a week – it’s the law! Plants and trees need much less - stick to a recommended 2 days a week with drip. Don’t overdo it! Visit snwa.com to find your assigned watering days.

⏳ It’s only 1,140 days until the next presidential election, 93 days until Christmas, and 10 days until Taylor Swift’s next album 👀

If that last one caught your attention, tickets are on sale now at theaters throughout Las Vegas for an 89-minute movie (Oct. 3-5) to celebrate the release of “The Last Showgirl.”

Yeah, it sounds like one big glorified ad, but this thing will probably outgross another movie we love about showgirls 💰
