🗳️ Is voter data ok after the cyberattack?

September 24, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess

👋 Hey Las Vegas,

Today we’re kicking off our fall membership campaign. It’s the time of year when we remind you that while this newsletter is totally free, we need support from you 🫵 to help keep it going. How? By becoming a City Cast Las Vegas Neighbor!

We believe that better neighbors make better cities and that’s why City Cast Las Vegas makes it easy (and fun!) to be more engaged in the life of our city — from highlighting local businesses to informing you on important local issues.

For $10 a month (or $100 a year), you’ll support a local team that loves Las Vegas as much as you do, while unlocking perks like members-only events and the chance to shout out your favorite local businesses right here in this newsletter. Think of it as another way City Cast helps you give and get more from our city.

We’ll send you our exclusive Neighbors Make Las Vegas tote too, because it’s absolutely true — Neighbors make this city.

Plus … A special one-day-only prize giveaway for new members 👀 Scroll down for details 👇

What's CITY Talking About?

🗳️ Voter Data Safe in Nevada Cyberattack

💰 Does ‘No Tax On Tips’ Need a Re-Do?

As it turns out, the “No Tax On Tips” policy passed in Congress doesn’t add up to much — only applying to the first $25K of income. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (NV-D) and the Culinary Union are now pushing for a revised version. [KSNV]

😯 Terry Fator Makes Surprise Exit

The puppeteer and ventriloquist performed the last show of his residency at The Strat last night — notable since it was announced abruptly and the “America’s Got Talent” winner has been a Vegas staple since 2009. [KLAS]

🍸 An Hour of Free Drinks On the Daily

The Golden Gate casino dropped live table dealers, but added an open bar (serving well spirits — don’t get too excited) every night 6 - 7 p.m. [KTNV]

🦟 Is Our Mosquito Problem Here to Stay?

Vegas is facing a population boom — not just people, but mosquitoes too. City Cast Las Vegas explains why it’s happening, the dangers involved, and what’s being done to help curb the problem. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

What To Do

📺 Did you watch the return of Jimmy Kimmel last night?

Whether you’re a fan or not of the Vegas native, you had the choice to watch his talk show.

Viewers in some other markets didn’t.

That’s because two telecommunications companies that control 20% of ABC stations declined to air the show. Both have explored respective mergers in recent months to become even larger — a move that requires approval from the same FCC that targeted Kimmel.

We’re not here to change your politics. We’re here to discuss Vegas in a way nobody else does. In a time when the media is consolidating in unprecedented fashion, independent voices are more important than ever. That’s why this fall membership campaign is happening.

Please support us. The more memberships we sign up, the longer we’ll stick around.

Plus … tote bag.

We appreciate each and every one of you 🙏
