🎸 Is Queen Playing the Sphere?
September 25, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess
☀️ Good morning!
At City Cast Las Vegas we believe life in our community should be joyful. So while we’ll always critique our city and all of its warts, we are equally committed to celebrating what’s truly great about Vegas life, from the bright lights of the Strip to the colorful scenery of Red Rock Canyon.
If you also believe in discovering hidden gems, celebrating wins, and supporting local businesses, then City Cast Las Vegas Neighbors is perfect for you. Our membership program is designed to help you engage more deeply with life in our city — in a way that’s easy and fun.
Just for Neighbors: Our weekly events preview helps you discover a whole new side of Las Vegas. And at our exclusive members-only events, you get to meet other Neighbors who care about the same things you do, too.

And if you join during our fall membership campaign, you’ll also get our brand-new Neighbors Make Las Vegas tote bag — a reminder that when neighbors show up, our city thrives.

What's CITY Talking About?
🖥️ Another Day, Another Hack
This time, it’s Boyd Gaming, which operates 10 Las Vegas casinos. The company admits some employee information was lost, but wouldn’t mention anything about paying a ransom. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🚨 Gunfire Exchanged at Nellis AFB
Police say shots were fired at Nellis Air Force Base security, who returned the favor, injuring the suspect in the leg. The main gate was shut down for hours during the investigation. [KTNV]
- A suspect remains at large after shooting out a hotel window at Mandalay Bay, causing glass to break and injure a tourist. [KVVU]
🍺 DUI Results Agree to Disagree
Remember when the office of State Senator Edgar Flores said his breathalyzer results were 0.00? Well, the blood test says otherwise: 0.082, putting his blood alcohol content level just above the legal limit. Of course, we probably wouldn’t be discussing this if Flores hadn’t fallen asleep at a traffic light in the first place. [KSNV]
🛣️ HOV Lanes Reappear on Interstate 15
Now that the Dropicana project is officially complete, the HOV lanes between Russell and Flamingo have returned. (You didn’t realize they were gone, did you?) [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🎸 A Queen-Sized Sphere Residency?
Queen guitarist Brian May says he’s “very keen on the Sphere,” admitting “we should do this” regarding a Vegas residency at the high-tech venue. May didn’t play coy during last month’s premiere of “The Wizard of Oz,” saying, “We’re starting to talk about something. My dream is we could do a Queen show here.” [Rolling Stone/KLAS]
💭 A Matter of Opinion
You know what? The WiFi is worth the resort fee 👍 Well, not really, but it’s a good example of an unpopular opinion in Las Vegas. City Cast Las Vegas has fun with the topic, hosting a roundtable discussion to see who can back up provocative statements. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
