🐀 Rat attack in Henderson!
October 20, 2025 · — Rob Kachelriess
🏆 Hey Vegas,
Now that the Aces have wrapped their season with a championship, parade, and nifty commemorative newspaper print, what’s next?
We’ve got the Knights, Raiders, and some team in Sacramento, but don’t overlook the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, who kick off a new season in December 🥍
Lacrosse is gaining momentum here in the valley. Boys and girls pre-K through second grade are invited to give it a shot with the Westward Littles Pop-Up League, which begins a new season this week.

What's CITY Talking About

🩺 Nevada Introduces Public Option on Health Insurance
Nevada's open enrollment for health insurance begins Nov. 1 with a big change this year. Battle Born State Plans are on the way, making Nevada one of just three states to offer a public health insurance option. [Nevada Independent]
- As you can imagine, this is complicated stuff. So City Cast Las Vegas invited Tabitha Mueller (the journalist behind the story linked above) to explain Nevada’s new health care system to us like we’re five years old 👶 👍 The episode will go over the new plans, the old plans, and if it’s really feasible to compete with traditional health insurance and bring down prices. 🪧 Vegas Joins Nationwide Anti-Trump Protests
And nobody lost their cool — for the most part. Here’s the breakdown:
- 2,700 demonstrators
- 1 arrest

🐀 Rat Attacks Fingernails
Imagine walking up to find out that a rat chewed off your fingernails while sleeping in bed. No, it’s not a horror movie, but something a visitor claims happened in a Henderson VRBO. A pest control service confirms finding fingernail pieces in a rat’s nest. Keep your eyes open 👀 Rodents tend to seek shelter indoors during cooler weather. [KVVU]
🎰 Durango Expansion Plans Revealed
Despite living near Durango, I never have a good answer when people ask, “So where is the expansion being built?” Now we know. The resort will build over the north parking lot with a lot more of what it already has (gaming space, restaurants with patios) and new stuff like a bowling alley and second-floor movie theater. An additional hotel tower is planned directly to the south of the current one, next to where a new parking garage is under construction. Plans need official approval and shovels won’t hit the dirt until 2028. [KLAS]

Where Is It?

This statue is standing tall and looking good while enjoying the fresh air outdoors. (I’ll even give you a gold star if you can name the person it’s modeled after):
But let’s cut to the chase … Where is it?

👷 A final word …
Henderson is warning people to be aware of scammers knocking on doors, claiming to be city employees who want to test your water. (It even happened to someone on our City Cast team.)
They’re not authentic. Don’t let them in.
