🤔 Is today Vegas’ real birthday?
March 16, 2026 · — Rob Kachelriess
👍 Thanks to everyone who pointed out that I incorrectly referred to California as the “Sunshine State” in Friday’s newsletter when it’s actually the “Golden State.” I apologize for the error.
For some reason I mix those two up all the time, but it should be simple.
Florida = sunshine ☀️ California = gold (taxes) 💰

What's CITY Talking About
🚘 Drivers Keep Hitting Students
Clark County students are off for spring break this week — and it’s a good thing, since going to school is more dangerous than ever. So far, at least 303 students have been hit by cars going to and from school since the year began in August — up from 90 the same time last year. Nearly half were on e-bikes or scooters. [KSNV]
📲 Uber Builds a Motional Connection with Vegas
After a deal was announced with Zoox last week, Uber now says it will also offer rides with another autonomous taxi service, Motional, which is affiliated with Hyundai. [Reuters]

🎰 Is Caesars Worth $7 Billion?
We’re learning more about Tilman Fertitta’s bid to buy Caesars Entertainment. The billionaire Golden Nugget owner is in exclusive talks to land the deal after offering $7 billion (around $34 a share). That edges out Carl Icahn’s competing offer of roughly $33 a share. Based on the current stock price, Caesars has a market value of around $5 billion. [Wall Street Journal]
💣 The End of the World As We Know It?
If you have anxiety about how World War III is panning out, don’t worry. We’ve been here before. At least on film. For some reason, Hollywood loves to show Las Vegas getting destroyed — and we have a list to prove it. Listen in as City Cast Las Vegas ranks the best (and worst) movies about the apocalypse in Vegas. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

Our Priority is Your Drinking Water
