🫣 The fear of $5 gas in Vegas
March 24, 2026 · — Rob Kachelriess
😬 Hey Las Vegas,
Despite what you may assume … no, you can’t just park in a casino garage for as long as you like.

If you’re the owner of a barf green Toyota Prius at the Venetian, come n’ get it before the towing company does.

What's CITY Talking About
🚨 Shooting, Crash, Dollar Tree Smashed
One person was arrested and another hospitalized after a shooting that happened around the same time a car crashed into a Dollar Tree near Craig and Decatur. I’ll assume the incidents are related until we hear otherwise. [KLAS]
🛫 Did ICE Agents Show Up at the Vegas Airport?
The short answer: No. At least not yet. While President Trump sends immigration enforcement officers to help out at ever-growing TSA lines, Harry Reid International Airport (the country’s 8th busiest) was notably ICE-less as of Monday. A partial government shutdown over the Department of Homeland Security’s budget — and ICE enforcement tactics — is now in its fifth week. [Las Vegas Review-Journal/The Hill]
- Nevada’s two U.S. senators both voted against the confirmation of conservative Markwayne Mullin to lead the Department of Homeland Security. [KVVU]
⛽ It Feels Like Summer — at Gas Stations
The price of gas topped $5.09 in the valley as the Iran war continues along with a stalemate over oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. It’s not quite the record price of $5.61 from the summer of 2022, but it’s bad enough that more Vegas drivers are thinking about — gasp — switching to electric cars. [KTNV]
