💸 Candidate mails $1 bills to voters
May 20, 2026 · — Rob Kachelriess
🧑🎨 Hey …
We got lots of feedback on Monday’s podcast episode about where a second Arts District could take shape in the Las Vegas Valley.
Did we get it right? Maybe you should weigh in 🤔

What's CITY Talking About
📚 Dangerous School Year Almost Over
The Clark County school year comes to an end Friday. CCSD Police seized nearly 40 firearms since it began in August — 23 of which were found on campus. [KLAS]
- There were more than 400 crashes involving students on bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters — more than double the number reported last year. Flashing lights will remain active in school zones over summer to keep drivers vigilant. [KTNV]
- The CCSD budget for next year is down $30 million, due to declining enrollment [KSNV]
🌳 Cesar Chavez Park Gets a New Name
It’s now Mariachi Park, which sounds more festive and fun than a name tied to sexual assault allegations. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🤑 Can a Dollar Buy Your Vote?
As primary voting draws near, Republican state Senate candidate George Harris is mailing dollar bills to voters in District 8, which covers a big chunk of Summerlin. Political experts say the move probably doesn’t violate campaign laws. (Because a dollar is worthless now? 🤷) Harris is up against Laz Chavez, whose political currency is backed by an endorsement from Gov. Lombardo. Anyway — check your mailbox. [Nevada Independent]
🇰🇷 The Boys Are Back in Town
Korean boy band BTS returns to Las Vegas with the first of four sold-out concerts at Allegiant Stadium Saturday — and the week is full of fan-friendly events and experiences, from themed drink specials to shopping pop-ups, and more. [KVVU]
- City Cast Las Vegas takes an insider’s look at the K-pop phenomenon — and why it’s giving the Strip a welcome boost in tourism. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]
