🚰 Can the Pacific Ocean save Vegas?
May 28, 2026 · — Rob Kachelriess
😥 You know what it’s like living in Vegas.
Every now and then, a friend, family member, or Facebook buddy you knew back in 4th grade comes to town and asks about “local recommendations” — and you’re on the spot to come up with something good.
So, City Cast Las Vegas did the hard part for you, narrowing down tourist traps worth the hype, can’t-miss dining picks, and off-beat recommendations to cement your cool cred.
There you go. The next time an out-of-towner asks if there’s “Anything good in Vegas?” … hand ‘em this episode ☝️

What's CITY Talking About
🚰 Can Desalination Solve Our Water Woes?
The Southern Nevada Water Authority is moving forward on negotiations with San Diego County that involve a desalination plant to make water from the Pacific Ocean drinkable. No, we wouldn’t bring the water here — but California would use more of it while taking less from Lake Mead. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
🐓 Cockfighting Still a Thing in Nevada
A cockfighting ring was busted in — you guessed it — Pahrump, leading to three arrests. Authorities seized nearly 500 birds during the investigation. (At what point do you just call it a zoo? 🤔) [KTNV]
🌴 Golf Cart Rampage in Lake Las Vegas
Lake Las Vegas — a place where golf carts are loved so much, they’re used in parades — had a rough holiday celebration over the weekend. A driver lost control of a golf cart, crashing into a crowd and sending one person to the hospital. [KLAS]
🏘️ The Most Affordable Neighborhood in Vegas Is …
Desert Inn Estates. (No, I've never heard of it either.) The area includes 55-and-over housing and a mobile park. You’ll find both in the far east valley, next to the Stallion Mountain Golf Club. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
- Biltmore Bungalows also made the list (although the RJ got the location wrong.) The neighborhood is full of history. [City Cast Las Vegas ✍️]
