🚰 A massive gamble on our water
June 24, 2026 · — Bryan M. Vance
Good morning, Vegas!
It’s getting more expensive to park at the airport. Starting one week from today, Harry Reid International is adjusting the parking fees for the first time in seven years. Most of the rates are going up by one or two dollars an hour. Ouch 🫣

What's CITY Talking About
🚰 Leaky Pipes
As Lake Powell’s water levels continue to drop, delivery of water to Lake Mead may soon rely entirely on Glen Canyon Dam’s aging steel bypass tubes. Federal officials dismiss fears of catastrophic failure as “false narratives,” but water advocates warn that depending on this outdated infrastructure is a massive gamble. If the pipes can’t handle the strain, the crucial water supply for Southern Nevada and the rest of the Lower Basin could be severely threatened. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
👮 A Troubling Trend
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has recorded seven shootings by officers so far this year, matching the total for all of 2025 in just six months. Last year’s total was a nearly 60% decrease in police shootings compared to recent years. According to Metro, all seven of the shootings this year involved armed suspects. [KSNV]
🚲 Not Just Toys
Local trauma centers are sounding the alarm over a massive spike in e-bike and e-scooter injuries. Sunrise Hospital has treated over 350 people for e-device related injuries through May of this year — already surpassing last year’s total. Hospital officials warn Clark County is on pace for a record year with head trauma, broken bones, and internal bleeding becoming increasingly common — among both adults and kids. 🤫 Silencing the Tell-All
Attorneys for the man accused of murdering Tupac Shakur, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, are fighting to block key evidence from his upcoming trial in Las Vegas. They’ve filed a motion to block his 2019 tell-all book, past police interviews, and items seized during a 2023 nighttime raid on his home from being used against him in court. [KSNV]
❓ What's Missing on the Las Vegas Strip?
The Strip has a lot to offer. After all, more than 38 million people come to Las Vegas every year, so the city is doing a lot of things right. But with tourism slowing down in recent years, it could likely use a refresh. So with that in mind, today on the City Cast Las Vegas podcast, the team offers up their thoughts on what amenities, restaurants and investments could take the Strip to new heights.
