🔌 Some news if you rely on Cox for cable or internet …
The company was sold and will now be known as Spectrum in Southern Nevada.
And if you’re averse to change, don’t worry. You’ll still get the full spectrum of high rates and low quality of service you’ve grown to expect.

What's CITY Talking About

🏟️ The A’s Stadium Is Looking Pretty Good
Bally’s? Not so much. After taking on high-profile investors in recent months, the A’s are making progress on the team’s new Strip stadium, which remains on track to open by the 2028 baseball season. The second phase, breaking ground by the end of the year 🤞, includes an elevated entrance and a three-level parking garage — covered in part by Bally’s, who’s also financing a dining and entertainment plaza. Plans for the resort company to build a neighboring hotel and casino are far from concrete — pun intended. [Nevada Independent]
- Struggles with a Chicago development and long-term debt caused Bally’s stock to sharply drop earlier this month. [The Real Deal]
- Bally’s seemed open to selling off its Strip interest ahead of a Thursday meeting with the Las Vegas Stadium Authority. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
- And it appeared Boyd Gaming was interested. [Casino.org]
🎰 OYO On the Market
OYO looks to be changing hands yet again, following a wave of bad publicity over misleading hotel listings posted under alternate names. Fifth Street Gaming, who’s been trying to sell the Downtown Grand for years, is poised to take over operations, pending approval by Nevada gaming regulators. (Change the name back to Hooters — and we’ll pretend this whole thing never happened.) [Vital Vegas]
- Henderson developer Michael Ochoa is planning a new casino resort near the South Point with “Silverado” as the working name. That’s what I always accidentally call the Silverton, just a few miles away. [Nevbex]
- Meanwhile, the new Hard Rock looks nice. [KVVU]
💧 Take the Money, Hold the Water
Nevada has agreed to accept more than $16 million in federal funds for conserving even more water than it already does at Lake Mead. It’s one of those “take the money while you can” deals, since we might be forced into those terms anyway. [Las Vegas Review-Journal]
⚖️ Tupac Murder Trial: Week 2
Jurors heard an old interview in which Duane “Keffe D” Davis took credit for the killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. The defendant was riding with his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, who fired the shots in 1996. [Associated Press]
- City Cast Las Vegas talks to a lawyer about how the murder trial has played out so far and the unusual strategy by Davis’ lawyers to get their client off the hook. [City Cast Las Vegas 🎧]

Save water where it matters most: outdoors
Over the past two decades, the community has collectively saved 200 billion gallons of water. Residents and businesses follow the mandatory seasonal watering schedule and replace grass with water smart landscaping. Golf courses operate within water budgets and utilize advanced irrigation technology. Just seven percent of the valley's water use is from resorts, which invest in water-efficient equipment. In addition, developers follow strict water-smart building codes inside and out.
Thank you, Southern Nevada! Keep conserving.
