☀️ Your guide to May in Las Vegas
April 30, 2026 · — Rob Kachelriess
👋 Hey! We’re trying something new …
No, you’re not seeing double 😵💫 You’ve received two City Cast Las Vegas newsletters today. The regular one this morning, plus this new expanded version of the monthly guide.
It’s so big, we figured it had to be a newsletter all its own. And it’s a lot of fun 🥳 So look for these special editions at the beginning of every month moving forward.

Hacks for a Better May
🎉 Get a Taste of EDC on the Strip
For the first time ever, the Electric Daisy Carnival will throw a World Party Parade on the Las Vegas Strip to kick off celebrations for the weekend-long electronic dance music festival. You’ll see some of the same art cars and DJs that make EDC such a spectacle at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 14. The parade starts near Sahara and makes its way down the North end of the Strip before looping back.
🗳️ Vote Early and Vote Often
We’re kidding about the second part — but not the first part. It’s shaping up to be a big election year and Nevada’s primary is Tuesday, June 9. Weigh in on how our community is run during early voting, which begins Saturday, May 23 and continues through Friday, June 5.
🏀 Score an Aces Championship Flag
The Las Vegas Aces kick off a new season with an afternoon game against the Phoenix Mercury at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, May 9. The team will receive rings during a pregame ceremony to celebrate their third WNBA championship in four years. The first 7,500 fans in attendance get something too: a free “Three of a Kind” flag.
- Hang that flag next to your City Cast Las Vegas pennant when you sign up to become a Neighbor during our spring campaign drive 👍
🏜️ Stay off the Beaten Path (When It’s Hot)
As the temperatures rise, it’s last call on some of our favorite hiking spots before they close to the public for summer. Some of the trails at Valley of Fire close on May 15. The National Park Service usually limits access to Goldstrike Canyon and other trails near Lake Mead, beginning in mid-May.
🤧 And Yes, Allergies
May is one of the worst months of the year for allergies in the Las Vegas Valley. Aside from medication and a shot of whiskey (which seems to work for me 🥃), there’s not much you can do about it — except improve a few things inside your home.
